MANAGEMENT PLAN
Administration Policy
Trelissick Park is administered by the Wellington City
Council and is classified primarily as Scenic Reserve
under Section 19(1 )(a) of the Reserves Act 1977 with
several areas being classified as Recreation Reserve.
The park is maintained by the Culture and Recreation Division
of the Council.
The Trelissick Park/Ngaio Gorge Working Group (of which
the Culture and Recreation Division is a member) plays
an active role i n advising and supporting Council in
the management of the park and the enhancement of the
streams. The Trelissick Park - Ngaio Gorge Working Group
is made up of representatives from the Highland Park Progressive
Association, N gaio Progressive Association, Private Landowners'Group,
Onslow Historical Society lnc, Royal Forest & Bird Protection
Society W ellington Branch, Wellington Botanical Society,
Wellington Fish & Game Council, Wadestown Residents' Association
and the Wellin gton City Council Culture and Recreation
Division.
Policies
- All of Trelissick Park shall be classified as a Scenic
Reserve in terms of Section 19 (1)(a) or (b) as appropriate
(see App endix 1 for Section 19 of the Reserves Act
1977).
- The administration, control and management of the
park shall be retained by the Culture and Recreation
Division of the Well ington City Council.
- Liaison and co-operation between the Culture and Recreation
Division and the Trelissick Park/Ngaio Gorge Working
Group and other public organisations, groups and individuals
who are interested in the management and use of the
park shall be encouraged and maintained.
- Volunteer work in the park shall be encouraged.
- The Management Plan may be reviewed and modified where
necessary in accordance with the procedures outlined
in the Reserves Act 1977.
- The Culture and Recreation Division has discretion
regarding the day-to-day management of the park but
significant matters should be dealt with by amendment
to the plan and the opportunity for the public to comment
on the matters involved.
