MANAGEMENT PLAN

Management Priorities

In order to give effect to the Management Plan and to ensure that the park's "wilderness character" is maintained and enhanced the following management priorities have been identified.
  1. To classify all areas of the park as a Scenic Reserve in terms of Section 19 (1) (a) and (b) as appropriate. (Administration Policy 1.).
  2. To establish a long term vegetation management programme to control and where appropriate eradicate adventive plants and pe sts (Vegetation, Policy 3.).
  3. To revegetate disturbed and modified areas and for the enhancement of bird habitat (Vegetation , Policy 6).
  4. To plan and develop the track network throughout the park using existing tracks or constructing new tracks where appropriat e andlor permissible extending beyond the park boundaries (Walking Tracks, Policy 2).
  5. In the event Council acquires the "plastics factory" site a rehabilitation/development plan shall be prepared integrating t his site with the park (Acquisition of "Plastics Factory" Site, Policy 1).
  6. To draw up an implementation plan for these priorities and other policies of the management plan, so that both long and short term projects can be incorporated in annual plans and budgets. This implementation plan is to be reviewed annually in light of future Council policies such as conservation and recreation strategies and available resources.
