MANAGEMENT PLAN

Wildlife Policy

The vegetation in the park is supporting both native and introduced bird species. The protection of wildlife including the habitats they occupy is essential. In addition to the protection afforded by the Wildlife Act, measures may include controlling recreational use, adventive weeds and animal pests.

Policies:

  1. Birds and in particular native species shall be encouraged and protected with provision being made wherever possible to enhance their habitat (see Vegetation Policy).
  2. Programmes for controlling rodents, mustelids, feral cats and possums will be initiated as appropriate.
  3. Stream habitat improvements shall focus on the stabilising of streambanks and reducing the fines in the substrate.
